Biography

Dr. Niranjan Koirala completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry (2016) under the meticulous supervision of Professor J.K Sohng at the department of Life Sciences and Bio-chemical Engineering, Sun Moon University, Republic of Korea. Currently he is serving as the Head of the medical biochemistry department at Nobel College, Pokhara University affiliate, Kathmandu, Nepal.

As a Ph.D. scholar, he focused on the modification of plant secondary metabolites by methylation and glycosylation processes using system metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli and further designed Koirala’s Double effect. Koirala's Double Effect is the modification of natural products by methylation and subsequent glycosylation processes. This effect maximizes the drugs stability by methylation and solubility by glycosylation. Further, he has more than a dozen of international publications at his disposal and he is exceptionally a flair writer and projects designer. He has filed a series of patents for the production of methylated flavonoids along with Professor Sohng which are under patent pending status. He has been invited and participated in more than 25 national and international conferences and he is in the editorial and reviewer board in several international journals.
