Biography
Dr. Mario Ciampolini is a retired professor from the Department of Pediatrics in Universita di Firenze, Italy. He directed the Gastroenterology Research Unit, a third level referral center in the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Florence (Meyer hospital) for 40 years. He worked at Cornell University for a joined research with the University of Florence on energy expenditure in children. He made humanistic studies after graduation and wrote two Italian books: Human differences and a study on Renassaince. Human differences almost coincide with the relation of Cabanac (Laval University) to the SSIB meeting at Mc Master University.
A long term strategy was designed with three students who came from Amsterdam Medical Center to learn “Recognizing Hunger” he made the first diagnoses of celiac disease by the Watson capsule in Tuscany and published 130 scientific articles, about 40 in international Press.
He is an emeritus member of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior and also The Academy of Sciences of India Union.
