Research Interest
In the mechanism of choroidal neovascularization and retinal angiogenesis, in particular, the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other growth factors and their signaling in pathological angiogenesis. Aberrant neovascularization of the retina and choroid is associated with diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration AMD and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. Full elucidation of the etiology of these diseases is paramount for the development of novel therapeutic methods to combat these diseases.
