Biography
Dr. C-M Charlie Ma received his Ph.D. in medical physics from the University of London, London, the UK in 1992. Dr. Ma continued his radiation therapy research and clinical training at the Royal Marsden Hospital/Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK until 1993. He was a research officer at the National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, Canada from 1993 to 1996, and an associate professor at StanfordUniversity, Stanford, CA from 1996 to 2001. Currently, he is Professor, Director of Radiation Physics and Vice Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC), Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Ma is recognized internationally as an expert in Monte Carlo simulation, radiation dosimetry, radiobiology, image guidance, plan optimization and treatment delivery for advanced radiation therapy, photodynamic therapy, focused ultrasound therapy and radio dynamic therapy. He has edited 4 books and published more than 20 book chapters and 180 peer-reviewed journal articles in these areas. He was elected Fellow of American College of Medical Physics (ACMP), American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and Institute of Physics (IOP), and served as a member on numerous professional committees, journal editorial boards, and scientific review panels.
Research Interest
Monte Carlo simulation, radiation transport theory, radiation dosimetry, radiobiology, optical and radiation image guidance, treatment planning, and optimization, treatment delivery, verification, and treatment assessment for advanced radiation therapy, photodynamic therapy, focused ultrasound therapy and radio dynamic therapy.
